Bagong Bihis ang Plaza San Lorenzo Ruiz | Revitalization of Binondo! ??

This is the newly-rehabilitated Plaza San Lorenzo Ruiz.

Broken tiles have been repaired and replaced with new ones. Located in Binondo, Plaza San Lorenzo Ruiz features several historical markers, two water fountains, and the monument of San Lorenzo Ruiz.

The Plaza has been has been the center of activity in the area, especially during the lunar new year celebrations.

Constructed around the same time as the construction of the nearby Binondo church in 1594, Plaza San Lorenzo Ruiz is the second oldest Plaza in Manila after Plaza Roma.

It was first known as Plaza de Binondo but sometime in the 1700s or 1800s, the plaza was renamed as Plaza Carlos IV, after the Spanish king Charles IV.

The plaza is adorned with different Chinese decorations such as the tree of hope and the traditional Chinese lanters. Several historical markers located within the plaza has also been restored and repainted.

The Plaza is one of the most popular tourist spots and visited plazas in Binondo. Its location near the Binondo church make it an ideal place for people to hangout and relax.
