First-ever Iconic Building in the Philippines soon to rise in Pasig and Metro Manila Subway update

As the construction of MMSP ortigas station progresses, another project in the area has emerged- the redevelopment of Metrowalk Complex in Pasig. This project is the last urban complex development site of the three central areas of Manila in the Philippines to be built in the LCS Group-owned BLEMP site.

Metrowalk Project is the largest single complex development project [total area of 160,000㎡] in the Philippines, and the I-conic Tower [site area: 13,000㎡/ building area: 173,410㎡] will be constructed first.

In the future, Area A [site area: 50,202㎡/ project area: 847,340㎡] will be carried out as the first project. The first development site of Ortigas in the Philippines [area 50,202㎡ ] has been approved by the local government, including demolition, and construction permits have been issued for the first-phase development project [two offices and two residences].

In addition, the I-CONIC Tower development project will be carried out through the joint development method with the central government of the Philippines and after completion, PCGG, a government office under the central government of the Philippines, will move in.

The I-conic Tower development project has been officially received by PCGG, a department under the central government of the Philippines, and PCGG has requested the submission of detailed plans in an
official document, and the final agreement is set to be completed soon.

Delayed for almost 50 years, the Metro Manila Subway Project is finally turning into reality. Megawide and its Japanese partners signed contract package 104 of the MMSP covering the construction of underground stations in Ortigas and Shaw Blvd. Station and the tunnel connecting them.

The contract has an aggregate estimated value of P17.75 billion. 76 percent of the whole MMSP, a large-scale undertaking that needs a substantial budget, will be funded by the Japan International
Cooperation Agency (JICA) via a P370.8 billion loan package.

The remaining 24 percent will be covered by the government. JICA, the world's biggest bilateral donor agency, has been supporting the Philippines through its Official Development Assistance (ODA) loans.

The 17-station, 33-kilometer project, which will benefit some 519,000 passengers a day once completed by 2028, is the first underground railway in the Philippines that will connect Valenzuela City to Pasay City.

It will reduce travel time between Quezon City and the Manila airport from an hour and a half to 35 minutes.
The project is being constructed under the Official Development Assistance program of Jica, which will finance 76 percent of the project via a P370.8-billion loan package. The remaining 24 percent, amounting to P117.7 billion, will be paid for by the Philippine government.

DOTr said it aims to complete the construction of the project in 2028, or before the end of the Marcos administration, and to open the subway to the public by 2029.

Originally estimated to cost ₱350 billion, the project’s total cost was raised to ₱488 billion in 2021 because of 4 additional stations.
