Bulan Seaport: Waiting for the Storm to Pass
Dark clouds hang over Bulan’s seaport as heavy rain sweeps across the shore. Waves crash against the concrete pier, throwing white foam around the fishing boats. Their mooring ropes pull tight with every surge, while coconut trees bend in the wind.
The harbor, usually alive with engines, conversations, and footsteps, has surrendered to the roar of the storm. Lights glow through the rain beside the empty waterfront. The boats remain tied where their owners left them, carrying the tools and hopes of another day’s work.
Beyond the pier, families wait for the weather to ease. Fishermen think of their boats and wonder what morning will bring. For now, there is little to do but stay sheltered and listen.
The sea has taken over the harbor for the night. But when the wind settles, the people of Bulan will return—to check the ropes, repair what they can, and begin again.
